I believe council facilitating local agriculture is essential for Noosa’s health and sustainability.

I have been very active in this space.

I was the first to vote against the unregulated growth of short term accommodation in low, medium and high density areas.

For 21 years I ran my business, Tom Wegener Surfboards, from my Cooroy property.

I manufactured thousands of surfboards and sold them all over the world. I understand and support small businesses operating in the Noosa Shire.

I grew up in Southern California and watched the “City of the Angels,” Los Angeles, lose its best qualities in the name of “progress.”

Noosa is paradise. It wasn’t shaped by accident and I have worked hard to maintain its magic.

I have been the councillor representative appointed to the board of the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation.

Together we have transformed the organisation into a positive advocate for maintaining Noosa’s UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status.

I am the councillor appointed to the Audit and Risk Committee and one of two councillors appointed to the Case Management Committee.

I feel it is important to fully understand the inner workings of council.

I have been very involved in the evolution of Noosa Council’s new waste strategy and very supportive of the green waste to mulch program.

I am inspired by other countries, like South Korea, who treat waste as a valuable resource.

I voted to adopt the Noosa Plan 2020 and for the upcoming Planning Scheme Amendments.

The Noosa Plan is an important document. It is the guide book for maintaining the Noosa that we have come to know and love.

I look forward to shaping the new Planning Scheme Amendments early in the next term of council.
